Microsoft "Genuine Advantage" cracked in 24h

"This week, Microsoft started requiring users to verifiy their serial number before using Windows Update. This effort to force users to either buy XP or tell them where you got the illegal copy is called 'Genuine Advantage.' It was cracked within 24 hours."

Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')

It turns off the trigger for the key check.

It took about 24 hours for hackers to come up with a solution involving IE script, the hackers claim

It seems that the javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all') fix has been patched...

i like how the "fix" was patched.
reminds me of the hotmail exploit where you could just paste in someone's ip address to get into their email.

Now M$ is using the genuine advantage check for their baseline security analyzer (MBSA). People used to use MBSA to get around the old windows update product key check - MBSA would give you direct links to download the hotfixes and install them manually ;-p

NO SHIT!!

I'm so sick of hearing "I would use Linux but I can't play [insert gamer name here] on it". I like playing games as much as the next guy, that's why I have a PS2. Sure, I use my computer for fun and games but it's a bit different then what one would think who uses Windows for fun and games ;-)

I much rather be using Linux and learning over using Windows and playing games. More knowledge VS better hand-eye coordination...hhhmmm LOL
